A sharp eyed viewer alerted us to the fact that ROBERTA TENNES, who was a long term dancer on WHERE THE ACTION IS, started her go-go career on HOLLYWOOD A GO-GO. Calls to JUNE FAIRCHILD, LUCILLE WILLS, and OSCAR WILLIAMS confirmed that ROBERTA was indeed a dancer on the earlier episodes from March through May 1965. We get some very good looks at her on select performances from episodes # 15 and # 17. You can find these on our "Episode 10 - 19 Capsules" page".
ROBERTA'S movie career got its start before she became a GAZZARRI DANCER. She was a classically trained dancer and was in the "West Side Story" movie as one of the dancing Jets. She also had an uncredited role in the 1964 flick, "Get Yourself A College Girl". Then came another uncredited part in "Redline 7000" from 1965. That was followed by an uncredited dancing role in "Wild Wild Winter" from 1966. In 1967 she scored another uncredited part in the Elvis movie, "Clambake". She then went on to credited roles in "Finian's Rainbow" (1968), and "The Only Game In Town" (1970).
We hope to discover more about her career through continuing research.
ROBERTA and her husband were the founders of a well known California charitable organization. She passed away in August 2015 and leaves behind an impressive legacy from her charitable work, and also a dedicated fan base from her movie and dance work.
