BIRTHDAY: May 17 GREW UP IN: Queens, New York City APPEARANCES: July - September 65
MARLENE SELSMAN, our previous "unknown blonde # 5", eluded identification for years until we noticed a go-go dancer in the 1965 movie "Beach Ball" who had the exact same moves. Further research revealed that MARLENE appeared in that movie as well as an additional four.
She was brought on board as one of AL BURTON'S 1965 summertime blonde hires and appeared for seven weeks (episodes # 31 through # 37).MARLENE was also a go-go dancer at the Hullabaloo Club on Sunset & Vine in 1965, but has scant recollection of her seven week gig on HOLLYWOOD A GO-GO. However, once shown several videos of her dancing on the show she concurred that it was indeed her.
You can see her in the navy blue bikini dancing in front of the Righteous Brothers in this clip from "Beach Ball". Besides dancing in the movie she also played three other roles in it (all uncredited).
After a five year absence she then appeared in four other movies as follows:
"Escape To Passion" 1970 as Signe Marlene
"Black Starlet" 1974 as Connie
"Linda Lovelace For President" 1975 as harem girl
"Boogievision" 1977 as Marlene
MARLENE is the daughter of Tin Pan Alley songwriter Victor Selsman. She currently resides in LosAngeles.
The photo above is from 1974 and the earliest one we currently have after she left HOLLYWOOD A GO-GO. It shows her and actor Jesse White. Jesse has a long movie resume, but is mostly remembered for his role as the Maytag repairman in numerous TV commercials.
The two photos below are more recent shots of MARLENE.
