On this page you will find photos of some of the musical guests on HOLLYWOOD A GO-GO. All photos were taken in the KHJ-TV studio on the actual taping days. We have referenced all with the episode number and the date of taping.

WALKER BROTHERS ---- EP # 06 ---- TAPED 01-23-65 |
The Walker Brothers were popular and frequent performers at Gazzarri's nightclub and made an easy transition to HOLLYWOOD A GO-GO where they appeared on several of the earlier episodes. Many people assumed that they were English, but they were American through and through. In the background is one of the original GAZZARRI DANCERS from the show's beginning. She remains unidentified.

VENTURES ----- EPISODE # 07 ----- TAPED 01-30-65 |
The Ventures only appearance on the show was for episode # 7, which was taped on January 30, 1965. This was a good catch for up and coming HOLLYWOOD A GO-GO which was trying to compete against the network produced music / dance shows. In the first photo we get a good look at the high-seated MIMI looking down on the action. Visible in the second photo are guest artists Vi Velasco on the far left, and April Stevens & Nino Tempo in the center background.

TINA TURNER ---- EPISODE # 08 ---- TAPED 02-06-65 |
Before becoming a major star Tina Turner appeared on episode # 8, which was taped in the KHJ-TV studio on February 6, 1965. Tina appeared along with husband Ike and The Ikettes.

JON-PAUL TWINS -- EPISODE # 08 -- TAPED 02-06-65 |
This is a photo of the Jon-Paul Twins appearing on episode # 8, which first aired on February 13, 1965. Note host SAM RIDDLE on the bottom left. This is one of the earliest photos we have from the show.

JACKIE DeSHANNON - EPISODE # 19 - TAPED 04-24-65 |
Jackie DeShannon was a frequent guest on HOLLYWOOD A GO-GO, having appeared six times. This photo is from episode # 19 which was her third visit to the show. In the background you can just make out dancers ROBERTA and DALE.

RONETTES ----- EPISODE # 20 ----- TAPED 05-01-65 |
Here are the Ronettes from their only appearance on the show. They performed two songs, "Be My Baby" and "Is This What I Get For Loving You". Unfortunately the tapes of these performances have not surfaced yet.

BRENDA HOLLOWAY --- EP # 19 --- TAPED 04-24-65 |
Brenda Holloway had a big hit in June 1964 with "Every Little Bit Hurts". Here she is on HOLLYWOOD A GO-GO performing it ten months later.

ROLLING STONES -- EPISODE # 22 -- TAPED 05-17-65 |
A pair of rare photographs, above and below, of The Rolling Stones from their May 22, 1965 appearance on episode # 22 (taping date May 15). These were taken during their performance of "Play With Fire", as evidenced by Brian Jones playing the harpsicord. In the photo below MIMI can be seen on the far right on a ladder.

The photograph below shows them on the set with the KHJ cameras ready to roll. To the left of Bill Wyman is Richard Delvy of The Challengers. Richard is seen passing bandmate Randy Nauert's tambourine to Charlie Watts.

The rare photo below shows Donovan performing on episode # 33, which was taped on July 31, 1965. MIMI, LUCILLE, and JUNE are shown (left to right) on the stage. Donovan lip-synched his way through his tune "Catch The Wind", while in the background we can see the Challengers "play-synching" to the original recording.
